WORK IN PROGRESS!!!

DESCRIPTION  This trailer is still a work in progress. Katie (our VTC designer) and her boyfriend Rafael bought this airstream with the mission of turning it into their full time home. They have since spent many long weekends and nights working on it. The design intent is to create a space that serves their primary needs (sleeping, cooking, bathroom, clothing storage) but also feels good to be in. Since Airstreams were originally designed for travel rather than living, the spaces tend to be cramped. This design makes the space feel more open by repositioning partitions, eliminating overhead storage, concentrating tall storage toward the back of the space, and using light colored finishes that allow natural light to bounce throughout the space. A secondary goal was to separate the bathroom from the rest of the space for a feeling of privacy. This is done by creating a storage threshold that acts as a barrier between the private bathroom and the rest of the shared living space.
