OUR RENOVATION PROCESS

01 | INSPECTION
DISCOVERING WHERE WE ARE AND WHAT WE'VE GOT!

Description: This is the initial stage of any project. Start by meeting with VTC team to discuss the overall scope, program, and “wish list” of the project. We will then perform a full inspection on the vessel in which we test the existing systems and make note of any visible repairs needed to get the trailer into working order.
Output: Vessel diagnostic results, vessel repair cost estimate, VTC recommendation on how to move forward based on client’s project goals.

02 | EXPLORATORY DEMOLITION
PEEKING INTO THE TRAILER'S GUTS.

Description: This is an optional service that we recommend based on the client’s goals and the condition of the vessel.  We partially remove portions of the belly pan, interior skin, and floor so we can peek into the guts and structure of the trailer and make more educated recommendations on how to move forward. This work is typically completed at the same time as the inspection.

03 | DESIGN
VISUALIZING AND PLANNING THE DREAM...

Process: The design and bid process should be thought of as a collaborative conversation in which the design and fabrication expertise of the VTC team converges with our client’s goals and ideas to plan and visualize the client’s dream project. Below is an outline of the typical design and bid process, however the process is tailored to each individual project and client.
Existing Conditions Documentation: We start by measuring, drawing, modeling, and photographing the existing trailer to gives us a base for our design work.
Schematic Design: Here we explore layout options.
Design Development: During this phase we look at options for and source finish materials, fixtures, and appliances.
Construction Drawings: This phase consists of creating a detailed set of dimensioned drawings that include all the information necessary to bid out the project and properly communicate the design to the fabrication team.
Solar / Electrical System Design: Projects that require a full re-wire or addition of solar will require a system design in order to properly size and locate key components.
Bid and Revisions: The whole VTC team comes together to create a detailed itemized list of work with associated costs. The bid is a living document that is meant to put solid numbers to the client’s wish list. There are often revisions made to the bid in order to satisfy budget and zoom in on project priorities.

04 | CONSTRUCTION
REALIZING THE DREAM!

Process: This phase will take 1-4 months, depending on VTC’s project schedule and the project scope. VTC sends bi-weekly updates with photos of progress. Clients are also welcomed to schedule a time to visit the shop.
